Natural gas Penetrates 6% of Land Drilling Market

The Zeus conference concludes that natural gas has slowly replaced the use of diesel fuel. APG and Prometheus Energy have reported that 70 out of 1200 of Americas land based oil rigs are now powered by gas from LNG, wellheads and pipelines.
This is great news because when you drill for oil you will almost always find an abundance of natural gas above the oil. Generally in the past this gas is set on fire and released into the atmosphere....which is a waste of fossil fuels.


Thanks to American Power Group and their generators oil drilling operations can use their own gas to power the oil rig and the entire site.

The electricity to power these rigs is commonly supplied by large reciprocating engines, according to Lyle Jensen, CEO of American Power Group, a manufacturer of diesel-engine conversion kits. He explained that each rigs is commonly powered by three units, 
ranging in size from 750 hp (0.6 MW) to 1,500 hp (1.1 MW).

The orders are for the upgrade and conversion of additional diesel generators on drilling rigs for operation using APG's Turbocharged Natural Gas(TM) Dual Fuel System. SourceOne Engine Equipment, LLC, our domestic Dealer/Certified Installer booked the orders. While the end customers were not disclosed for proprietary reasons, a recent industry survey ranked these three companies among the top 50 oil and gas exploration and drilling companies in the United States.

More interesting news for American Power Group...as you can read form the title of the post they will be debuting their dual fuel engine with Fitzgerald gliders. This is very exciting news for the little company based out of Algona Iowa. These gliders are pretty much just the shell of the car, Fitzgerald and Wheeltime Network get together and refurbishe these gliders. This is a win win situation for everyone....buying the shell of the truck is much more cost effective and there is no need for any sort of special conversion necessary. The benefits of a glider kit are significant. The initial purchase price is typically 25% lower than a new diesel truck. The Detroit Series 60 12.7 liter engine, which is rated at 500hp and 1,650 lb-ft torque, was one of the most popular engines of the 1990s, pre-dating the addition of emissions reduction equipment required on later model year engines. There are significantly less maintenance costs and downtime with the Series 60 12.7 liter engine. Additionally, fuel efficiency is typically better, with fuel mileage of up to 7 miles per gallon. The Fitzgerald Glider comes with a three-year, 300,000 mile warranty on both the engine and transmission.

 --  Cummins ISM (2009 - 2007)
 --  Caterpillar C-15 (1997 - 1996)
 --  Caterpillar C-16 (1997)
 

The submission utilized APG's latest V5000 Dual Fuel Turbocharged Natural Gas(TM) technology which is required to meet specific design, componentry, and emission compliance criteria per the EPA Final Rule 40CFR Parts 85 and 86.

American Power Group Receives $1.5 Million Order From Cudd Energy Services for Hydraulic Fracturing Installation in the Marcellus Shale Region

("APG"), has received purchase orders totaling $1.5 million from Cudd Energy Services to upgrade and convert diesel pumps used for hydraulic fracturing to APG's Turbocharged Natural Gas(TM) Dual Fuel System. APG will provide full turnkey installation including engineering services under an EPA Test Exemption while completing the EPA Memo 1A Testing and Compliance process, similar to the procedure APG completed in June 2012 for a different high-horsepower non-road compression ignition engine family. APGI reports fourth quarter fiscal results

Lyle Jensen, American Power Group Corporation's President and Chief Executive Officer, stated, "We are very pleased with the progress we have made and the market leadership momentum we have created during the past year with both our vehicular and stationary dual fuel diesel engine solutions. We continue to work closely with the EPA to achieve approvals for additional Outside Useful Life (OUL) and Inside Useful Life (IUL) vehicular conversions. APGI is currently a leader in vehicular EPA OUL approvals with 88 engine families on four different OEM engine platforms. We expect to complete another 100 EPA OUL engine family approvals on four additional OEM engine platforms before the end of the second calendar quarter of 2013. We will begin testing for lower mileage IUL conversions at the University of Houston in January which we anticipate will result in additional IUL OEM engine platform approvals throughout the year."

Mr. Jensen added, "As these EPA approvals are secured, private and corporate fleets will be able to begin their own evaluation testing on a wide range of engine models, providing a platform for us to achieve our initial near term objective of 1,000 conversions per year which would equate to over $10 million of annual revenue. As these fleets move into production, our next targeted goal is 1,000 conversions per month. We anticipate that our recent National Distribution and Master Marketing Agreement with WheelTime Network, LLC will provide us with high-quality certified conversion centers across North America to support these scalability requirements."

Jensen further stated, "We made tremendous progress with our stationary conversion efforts this year, reporting fiscal 2012 stationary vertical drilling conversion revenue of $1.9 million, five times higher than revenues from that segment in fiscal 2011. Notably, second half conversion revenue was double the revenue generated in the first half of the year. Endorsements from the Linde Group, CONSOL Energy and EQT helped open up the Marcellus region for expanded APG conversions in 2012 and we expect to enter new regions in Canada and Colorado during the coming year. APG's technology is currently being tested by several of the world's largest Oil & Gas equipment corporations for the application of dual fuel technology on horizontal fracturing rigs and we anticipate that field testing will be completed in the first quarter of calendar 2013 with production orders to be awarded shortly thereafter.    The APG system is a cost-effective and non-invasive patented turbocharged natural gas dual fuel conversion technology for trucks, stationary generators and off-road mobile diesel engines. The APG system offers a 300-800 mile dual fuel range with no loss of power and torque and, depending on the route profile, delivers an average annual net fuel savings of 15%-30% over 100% diesel fuel. These orders were received from several certified dealers and customers who intend to install APG's dual fuel system on forty-two heavy-duty trucks. The certified dealers intend to distribute these dual fuel trucks to more than thirty prospective customers so that they may evaluate the costs savings and benefits of APG's V5000 Dual Fuel Turbocharged Natural Gas(TM) System.
